Dipa Karmakar created history by clinching gold medal at World Gymnasts Challenge

Dipa Karmakar returning from her knee injury after two years cliched gold medal at FIG Gymnastics World Challenge on Sunday at Marsin, Turkey.

24 years old Indian Gymnast from Tripura, who represented India at 2016 Rio Olympics but completed at fourth position, won gold in women vault at FIG Gymnastics World Challenge after returning to action after two years from severe knee injury. At first attempt, Dipa scored 5.400 points and at execution she scored 8.700 points, total she scored 14.100. In second attempt she scored 5.600 and 8.600 at execution with total of 14.200 points. Adding the points of both the attempts, she scored 14.150 points. After this, there was no one to stop Dipa from gold. At qualification, she scored 13.400 points. Rifda Irfanaluthfi of Indonesia got silver medal with the score of 13.400 and Goksu Uctas of Turkey finished with bronze medal with 13.200 points.
Earlier, Dipa was unable to make comeback at Gold Coast Commonwealth Games this year due to long rehabilitation period. Dipa Became the first Indian women to clinch a gold medal at global event in gymnastics.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sports Minister Rajya Vardhan Singh Rathore also congratulates to Dipa for her achievement.
